CR Planning updated the State of Minnesota's model sustainable development ordinances, titled From Policy to Reality: Model Ordinances for Sustainable Development. CR Planning principals completed the original document for the Minnesota State Planning Office in 2000. Based upon the principles and goals of the Minnesota Sustainable Development Initiative, the ordinances were created for use by local governments interested in sustainable development; balancing population growth with economic development and resource protection. The new version expands on the range of ordinances, including addressing climate change issues, local food production, and form-based codes. New models include:
The models also include an on-site wastewater ordinance, a stormwater control ordinance, travel demand management ordinance, green building ordinances, and ordinances supporting sustainable economic development and pollution prevention.
